This Privacy Policy (the "Privacy Policy" or "Policy") describes the types of information Future Nostalgia Studios Inc. (d.b.a. "Kindred") ("Kindred," "we," "our," or "us") collect and process from and about you.

Except as described below, this Policy applies to all websites, mobile applications, and any other electronic/digital products or services made available by Kindred that link to this Policy, as well as our offline services (collectively, the "Services").

Undefined capitalized terms used in this Policy have the meanings set forth in the Kindred Terms of Service.

Who can use Kindred: Our Services are intended for adults 18 years and older. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will delete that account and associated data.

1. Information We Collect

When you access or use Kindred, we collect information from and about you. The type of information we collect depends on how you use the Services. Some information is necessary for us to operate and provide the Services. If you choose not to share certain information—or ask us to delete it—you may not be able to access or use some features.

We collect three main types of information:

  • Information you provide directly to us.
  • Information collected automatically from your activity.
  • Information we receive from other sources.

Information You Provide Directly to Us

We collect information that you share with us directly when you use the Services. This includes when you:

  • create or update an account;
  • communicate with us;

You may also choose to share information that could be considered sensitive under certain laws—such as your login credentials, private communications, or personal details included in creative content (for example, if you write stories or chat messages referencing your race, religion, or sexual orientation).

Kindred does not require sensitive personal information to use the Services. Please avoid including sensitive or identifying data in public or creative submissions unless you are comfortable sharing it in that context.

Information We Collect Automatically

When you use Kindred, we and our trusted third-party partners — including analytics, infrastructure, and advertising providers — use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to gather information about your activity and device. These tools help us operate, improve, and personalize the Services.

As described there, we collect and analyze device, internet, and network activity information, including:

  • Device information: hardware model, operating system version, app version, language, battery level, time zone, device identifiers (such as IDFA, Android ID, or device-specific tokens).
  • Network and browser information: browser type, service provider, IP address, and connection speed.
  • Usage information: details about how you interact with the Services — for example, pages viewed, buttons tapped, time spent on features, referring or exit pages, access times, in-app searches, and your general engagement with posts or characters.
  • Identifiers: internal service identifiers, such as user ID, chat or session ID, and content IDs.

This data helps us understand how users experience Kindred, diagnose technical issues, prevent abuse, and improve functionality, safety, and personalization across the platform.

Information We Collect from Other Sources

We may also receive information about you from external or third-party sources, such as:

  • Referrals: If another user invites or refers you to Kindred, we may receive your name or contact details to help establish your connection.
  • Third-party platforms: When you interact with Kindred content, ads, or campaigns on other services (for example, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, or YouTube), we may receive aggregated insights such as engagement metrics, general location, or demographic information (e.g., age range, interests).
  • Social and integration partners: If you choose to connect a Kindred account with a third-party service (a "Third-Party Account," such as Google, Apple, or Discord), we receive information from that account in line with your permissions — for example, your username, email address, or profile ID.

Connecting a Third-Party Account is entirely optional. You'll be prompted to grant permission before any connection is made, and you can revoke that permission at any time through the third party's settings or your device preferences. If you disconnect your account, we retain only the information already collected as part of that link but will not continue syncing new data.

We may also collect publicly available information — such as content or data accessible on the open internet — to help evaluate, train, and improve Kindred's systems and AI models in compliance with applicable law and our internal data-handling policies.

2. How We Use the Information We Collect

We use the information we collect to operate, improve, and protect Kindred — and to make your experience more creative, secure, and personalized. Specifically, we use information to:

  • Provide and operate the Services. Run and maintain Kindred, process your account, enable communication and creative tools, and deliver core features.
  • Personalize your experience. Tailor recommendations, content, characters, and features to your preferences and interests.
  • Develop and improve Kindred. Analyze how people use the Services, identify trends, and enhance existing features or create new ones — including through research, testing, and product development.
  • Train and refine AI models. Use data to improve the quality, safety, and responsiveness of Kindred's AI systems, including moderation and creative generation tools, while following our data-handling and privacy standards.
  • Communicate with you. Respond to messages, provide updates, and notify you about new features, opportunities, or changes to our Terms or policies.
  • Deliver relevant advertising and promotions. Show offers, updates, and information that may align with your interests and evaluate the performance of campaigns.
  • Process payments. Facilitate purchases, subscriptions, or other commercial transactions securely.
  • Protect security and integrity. Verify your identity, prevent unauthorized access or misuse, detect and prevent fraud or harmful activity, and safeguard Kindred's systems, users, and intellectual property.
  • Comply with legal obligations. Meet requirements under applicable law, respond to legal requests, and enforce our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and other agreements.

We may combine information collected across Kindred Services or from other sources to enhance functionality, accuracy, and personalization.

We may also aggregate or de-identify information for research, analytics, or business purposes. Once data is de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an individual or household, we maintain it in that form and do not attempt to re-identify it — except as needed to confirm that it remains de-identified.

3. When We Disclose the Information We Collect

We may share the information we collect in certain circumstances to help operate, improve, and protect Kindred. We do not sell your personal information, and we only disclose it in ways consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Vendors and Service Providers

We share information with trusted vendors, contractors, and service providers who help us operate Kindred. This includes partners who assist with:

  • data storage and cloud hosting,
  • LLM providers
  • payment processing,
  • security, fraud detection, and content moderation,
  • customer support and technical operations,
  • analytics and business intelligence, and
  • marketing and advertising services.

These partners only process information on our behalf and are contractually bound to handle it securely and in accordance with this Policy.

Safety, Security, and Legal Protection

We may share information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to:

  • protect the safety, rights, or property of Kindred, our users, or others;
  • enforce our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or other policies;
  • prevent or investigate potential fraud, misuse, or illegal activity; or

Advertising and Analytics Partners

We may share limited information (such as device identifiers or engagement data) with advertising and analytics providers to:

  • measure how campaigns perform,
  • understand what content resonates with users, and
  • deliver more relevant ads and recommendations.

These partners use cookies and similar technologies to help us analyze trends, improve personalization, and enhance the overall experience on and off Kindred.

Public and Shared Content

Some of your actions on Kindred may make your content visible to others. For example, if you publish stories, create public characters, or interact in shared spaces, your profile name and related content may be accessible to other users or the public, depending on your settings. Always review your visibility preferences before posting.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or other business transaction involving Future Nostalgia Studios Inc., your information may be shared or transferred as part of that process. We will take reasonable steps to ensure your privacy rights are maintained.

With Your Consent or Direction

We may disclose your information when you ask us to. For example, if you refer a friend to Kindred, connect your account to another platform, or participate in a collaborative project, we may share information as you've directed.

4. Your Choices

We believe you should have meaningful control over your information. Kindred gives you options to manage how your data is collected, used, and shared.

Profile Information

You can view, update, or delete certain details from your account settings at any time. If you decide to stop using Kindred, you can delete your account directly from your profile page. Deleting your account removes most stored data associated with it, except where retention is required by law or for security reasons.

Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those messages. Even if you opt out of promotional emails, we may still send you service or administrative updates (for example, notifications about your account, terms, or privacy changes).

Your Data Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request details about how we process your information.
  • Access and obtain a copy of certain data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate personal information.
  • Request deletion of some or all of your data.
  • Restrict or object to certain data processing.
  • Withdraw consent for processing, where consent was previously given.
  • Request data portability (a machine-readable copy of your information).
  • Opt out of targeted advertising or data sharing for marketing purposes.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

5. Privacy

Kindred is intended for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from children under these age thresholds. If we become aware that a child has created an account or provided personal information, we will delete that data promptly and will take steps to restrict access.

6. Data Retention

In General

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, fulfill legal obligations, maintain security, and enforce our agreements. The length of time we store data depends on the type of information and the purposes for which it was collected. Once data is no longer needed, we securely delete, anonymize, or aggregate it.

Shared or Public Creations

If you create or share content—such as public characters, scenes, or stories—that other users can engage with, Kindred may retain that content to preserve other users' experiences, even if your account is deleted. To avoid unintended retention, please avoid including personally identifying information in public or shareable creative content.

7. Links to Third-Party Websites

Kindred may include links to external websites, apps, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third parties. When you interact with external platforms, your data is governed by their privacy policies, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy and security policies of any site or service you visit before providing personal information.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in technology, our practices, or legal requirements. When we make significant updates, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the Policy and, where required, notify you through in-app messaging or email. By continuing to use Kindred after an update, you acknowledge the revised version.
